Bejeweled Tables

Monday, January 10th, 2011

We love Nate Berkus and his many tips and ideas for all things decorating.  Today’s show gave us a “why didn’t I think of that?” moment.  When looking for a new way to spruce up your table for a dinner with friends, look no further than your jewelry box for information.  In place of napkin rings, use some of the fabulous bracelets you’ve stocked up on over the years!  It’s a sure way to add a touch of glitz and glam to your next dinner party.

Holiday Cheer

Tuesday, December 7th, 2010

It’s that time of year for holiday parties, and if you’re planning on being the “hostess with the mostest,” we have a great theme idea for you.  How about “Winter Wonderland?”  We know you’ve heard of this theme before, but we have some great ideas to include at your celebration.

~Don’t just serve the expected egg nog, try a drink with a twist, like an “Angel’s Wing,” made with creme de cacao, brandy, and cream.

~Add to the decor and food options at one time by building a meringue tree, like the one pictured below.

~Buy some white birch of different heights to place your platters of food on top of.

~Vanilla cupcakes with white buttercream frosting and a coconut topping, to give a “snowy” effect.

~Make your own knitted snowflake ornaments…or if you’re short on time (and creativity), buy them from Etsy.

~A cheeseboard including mozzerella, white cheddar, brie, goat cheese, etc. served with water crackers.

~White pillar candles, of course!

~Rent or buy a great white velvet linen.  We love the one below from Wildflower Linen.

Anthro’s Ikat

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

We are LOVING Anthropologie’s new Ikat collection for the home.  A dear friend of ours recently returned from Morocco and we are becoming obsessed over the gorgeous Ikat patterns that hail from that area.  These would be so much fun for a funky bridal shower or birthday party. Mosey on over to Anthropologie to find all of the goodies!

A touch of gold…

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Looking for a way to add a little glam to your Thanksgiving centerpiece?  Try spray painting ordinary pumpkins in gold.  You can use mini gourds with tags as place cards and larger pumpkins as centerpieces with scattered mercury votives to make everything glow.  Make sure you leave plenty of room for your turkey and sides!

Never too old for chalkboards

Monday, October 18th, 2010

While shopping around in NYC this weekend, we found these adorable chalkboard containers and mugs. Fill the containers with wildflowers and write the table number on the chalkboard. Voila… perfect table centerpieces!
