Client Love…

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

One of our beautiful brides that is getting married next year is adding another item to her already fabulous repertoire: blogging! Hollen is basically a “gift guru,” and it’s only fitting that we plug her gift blog now, during the holiday season, so you can gather some more ideas for those remaining on your list. She updates her finds almost daily on Hollen Picked, so be sure to keep going back for more! And, if you’re still having trouble dreaming up the perfect gift, Hollen will personally help you find it!

Holiday Gifts…

Monday, November 28th, 2011

With Thanksgiving behind us and the holiday season looming, the search is on for the perfect gifts for Mom, hubs, your girlfriends and the rest of your clan.  Our favorite place to gather ideas is over at New York Mag’s “Shop-a-Matic.” They have 150 unique gift ideas for everyone on your list, even for the most discerning recipient who already has it all! We love the “One Line a Day” journal to give to your best gal pal or the bride-to-be as she counts down the days leading up to the wedding and then the “newlywed” days thereafter. What’s your favorite??

Behold Houston

Monday, November 7th, 2011

This past weekend, I was in Houston for a wedding and of course made time for a quick visit to BHDLN (pronounced beholden). The store was even more beautiful than I had imagined and was filled to the brim with gorgeous wedding dresses and insanely stunning jewelry and shoes. In addition to the clothing, there was a beautifully stylized room (as Anthropologie does best) that contained tons of stationery, bridesmaids gifts, candles, cake stands and more. I felt like a kid in a candy store! If you can’t make it to Houston, check out the equally beautiful website, BHDLN. Happy shopping.

Femmegems

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Recently, we received a gift from a little jewelry store called “Femmegems,” which is based in both Greenwich, CT and Manhattan. It was such a cute gift that we went searching on their website for more ideas, and found out that they have jewelry making parties at each of their locations.  Yes, it sounds cheesy, but it certainly isn’t.  They provide wine, sparkling water, and plenty of hors d’oeuvres (different price ranges for what you fancy), as well as the necessary staff to assist you make whatever piece of jewelry you desire. And even if you aren’t very creative, their staff will give advice and tips while you string your “gems!”  Such a cute and different idea for your next gal pal’s bachelorette!

Bayside Country Chic

Monday, June 13th, 2011

This past weekend we had a beautiful bayside wedding in Maryland despite threatening thunderstorms throughout the weekend.  It was so great working with all of the fabulous vendors to make the day so special for our bride and groom, Sarah and Erik.

Guests entered a sprawling ceremony tent that faced the water as they awaited the bride, who walked down a fully floored aisle from the reception tent.  After the ceremony, the guests were able to enjoy cocktails and nibblies provided by Federal City Catering under a round tent (with a round bar, of course!).  Sue Coe Designs provided custom monogrammed stationery throughout the evening from programs to menus to cocktail napkins. The custom monogram even made an appearance on the 5-tiered cake from One Sweet Bite. Gorgeous arrangements from Holly Chapple Flowers of white and green florals in milk glass vases set the tone throughout the evening atop alternating linens from Party Rental Ltd.  All tents and flooring were provided by Sperry Tents. More photos to come, but check out Holly’s blog for a sneak peek!

Queen for a Day…or Two…

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Starting in January 2012, you can live like royalty at the Hotel du Grand Controle, a dilapidated mansion on the grounds of Versaille that is undergoing a MAJOR renovation.  The mansion was built in the 1680s to accommodate the king’s treasurer, along with his family and servants.  Wake up and open your windows to a view of the palace and the Orangerie, then take a stroll through the gardens with a glass of bubbly.  Don’t mind if we do!

Rent the…Bridesmaid??

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Rent the Runway, one of our favorite websites to rent designer dresses for special occasions, is now revolutionizing the wedding world.  They have expanded the company to now offer Bridesmaid dresses.  Instead of spending upwards of $300 on a dress you will never wear again (not to mention a dress you probably loathe), brides can now pick from bridesmaid dresses designed by Badgley Mischka, Nicole Miller and more, in every shade of the rainbow.  So, brides, do your ladies a favor and send them to Rent the Runway!

P.S. They also have MANY options for bridal showers, bachelorette weekends, engagement parties and every other event surrounding the big day!

…for holiday window displays!  It’s our favorite time of year in New York with the city abuzz in holiday chaos.  While shopping for the perfect gifts for your friends and family, be sure to take a moment and check out the ornate window displays at Saks, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and more.  And don’t forget to watch the new Snowflake & Bubbles 3D Light Show at Sak’s, directly across from the famed Rockefeller Christmas tree!

Eloise at the Plaza

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

Our dear friend, Beth, of Beth Beattie wrote in her blog today about a new and exciting venture for The Plaza.  A venue now close to our hearts since we are featured in the inaugural “Plaza Weddings Guide,” we decided to share this fun news with you…They recently teamed up with Betsey Johnson to create a suite dedicated to Eloise, based on the fictional character from the beloved series.  The new suite, which takes up not one, but TWO rooms on the 18th floor, features pink-striped walls and crystal chandeliers, channeling the The Plaza Hotel’s “youngest resident” perfectly.  Read more about it over at the New York Times
