Looking for a way to keep your wedding cake classic while still wowing your guests? This week, New York Weddings featured a story called, “White Cake, Wild Filling.” Satisfy both your sweet and sassy side by presenting your guests with a classic all- white cake, but fill it with whatever flavors and colors your taste buds desire. All of these cakes are made right here in NYC. Remember don’t judge a cake by its fondant!

Bayside Country Chic

Monday, June 13th, 2011

This past weekend we had a beautiful bayside wedding in Maryland despite threatening thunderstorms throughout the weekend.  It was so great working with all of the fabulous vendors to make the day so special for our bride and groom, Sarah and Erik.

Guests entered a sprawling ceremony tent that faced the water as they awaited the bride, who walked down a fully floored aisle from the reception tent.  After the ceremony, the guests were able to enjoy cocktails and nibblies provided by Federal City Catering under a round tent (with a round bar, of course!).  Sue Coe Designs provided custom monogrammed stationery throughout the evening from programs to menus to cocktail napkins. The custom monogram even made an appearance on the 5-tiered cake from One Sweet Bite. Gorgeous arrangements from Holly Chapple Flowers of white and green florals in milk glass vases set the tone throughout the evening atop alternating linens from Party Rental Ltd.  All tents and flooring were provided by Sperry Tents. More photos to come, but check out Holly’s blog for a sneak peek!

Oscar de la Renta inspired cakes

Thursday, August 26th, 2010

Found this fashion inspired photo shoot by Megan of Honey and Poppies that we just had to share. Influenced by Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2010 collection, Megan designed cakes full of ruffles, flowers, and glitz. We always appreciate when industry professionals think outside of the box. Yes, Oscar makes beautiful wedding gowns but why not an Oscar cake too?

Truck o’ Treats

Monday, July 12th, 2010

There is nothing better than homemade ice cream served from a vintage truck pulled up right next to your reception site! 100layercake.com/blog featured  these fabulous food trucks that we adore. We happen to be using an ice cream cart for our client’s clambake themed rehearsal dinner in September. Stay tuned…

Sonnier & Castle Tasting

Chocolate Fondue

One of our favorite caterers is Sonnier & Castle.  They are professional, a pleasure to work with, and best of all, their food is delicious!!

We recently went for a tasting at their space and got a chance to see the new trends in food.  Curried chicken on a crisp wonton as an hors d’oeuvre, poached halibut with a creamy dill sauce, and Valrhona chocolate fondue for dessert (with homemade marshmallows!).  These guys seriously know how to make food look appealing without having to skimp on taste.  Check them out at www.sonnierandcastle.com
